Competition Time!

Ah, September: full of crunchy red leaves, chunky jumpers and cocoa...

But wait, summer is never quite over until you’ve visited the Rotherham Show! We were all lucky enough to get dry, warm(ish) weather this weekend so headed across for a weekend of fun and games! If you follow us on social media, you may even have spotted a pic of our pheasant at Swinton Railway Station last week - we can now reveal it was just anxious to ensure it didn’t miss out!

We had a smashing time checking out the rides and stalls. After a lucky win on the tombola, we headed over to the winners’ tent and were astounded by the heaviest cabbage, although we must admit the baking looked a tad more appetising! Mostly though, we loved seeing the community all pulling together; after all, here at The Dearn Pheasant, that’s what we’re all about.

Seeing everyone out and having fun this weekend has inspired us to think about how we can reach out and get to know you all better. We love the Dearne Valley and its surrounding areas and believe there’s something here for everyone, be it a trip to the Metrodome or a mooch around Manvers Lake... we just can’t decide which area we like best! But we’re sure you have an opinion, which is why we’ll be running a competition* all week to find out just which part of South Yorkshire you love the most - Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham or Sheffield.
